While at war Andrea learns that his girlfriend Vera is expecting his baby, but when he returns five years later he finds her happily married to Marco, a famous piano player. Problems start when the child dies: Vera's friend Angela tells the truth to Marco and becomes his lover. Vera, abandoned, cheated and wounded, believes the lie that Angela is pregnant of her husband Marco and...knowing not to be able to have babies anymore commits suicide!
