Description

Yvette is a young French dancer whose ambition is to become famous. After 5 years in Italy fortune has not favoured her expectations and she finds herself living in misery and dancing in theatres of the lowest order. One day, she is invited to give a performance in a small town to celebrate the discovery of a mineral spring there. The show ends in complete disaster, so the dancers are obliged to leave, but Yvette decides to stay on; she wants to change her life and starts living with Memmo, the owner of the spring. But she is hated by the women and continuously bothered by the men. After a violent quarrel with one of the women, she decides to return to Rome, but before leaving meets Umberto, who, seeing how desolate she is, suggests she teamsup with him and helps sell his goods at the markets. She accepts his offer to earn an honest living and soon a mutual affection develops between them which leads to their marriage.
