Description

A fascist leader of a town in central Italy and two of his sons are active supporters of the fascist cause. Benito, the third son, returns from the Russian front wounded. The bitter experience of the war allows him to see the false and opportunistic attitude of his family. In Bologna he meets Luciana, the daughter of a fascist commander. Shortly after, when Benito decides to join the partisans, Luciana follows him. When the war ends, Benito's family tries to hide its past political activities and double-cross their fellow fascists. When the Allies arrive, they are among the crowd to welcome them. Benito and Luciana name their newborn son Adam, hoping for a new beginning.
