During a stormy night, five people whose car has broken down find shelter in a small chalet. Here they find the proprietor, Wright, and his mother, Herta, about to begin a spiritualist seance. The innkeeper kindly invites his guests to take part, but their acceptance will cost them a high price. One by one, the old woman unmasks the five, revealing incredible and unsuspected truths about each individual. Enraged by the revelations, the five end up killing one another.
