The story of Frine, a woman gifted with an uncommon beauty and a deep love for her lost city, who is forced into slavery and then becomes a celebrated courtesan. She is obsessed by one intent in life: that of accumulating enough riches to enable her to finance the rebuilding of the walls of her lost city, Thebes, destroyed in the war. After overcoming the many difficulties involved, she finally succeeds in realizing her ambition and marries the gallant Iperides.
