Description

Julia's adoptive parents, an elderly couple, engage a lawyer to complete the adoption formalities now that she is coming of age. The lawyer who has recently moved to town from Madrid is a swindler. Hoping to draw money from the humble parents, he spreads word that Julia is the daughter of the Marquise of Torralba who died leaving her wealth to the girl. The news causes Julia to become the center of attention in the town; but her fiancé Ernesto leaves, feeling that he is too poor for her. However, investigations are made and the truth is known. The lawyer is arrested and Julia returns to her modest life. Ernesto returns and they marry
