Description

At the death of Ptolemy, first king of Egypt, his two heirs, Ptolemy and Cleopatra, fight for the throne. Ptolemy seems to be winner and imprisons his sister, but Achillas, officer ot the guard, who is in love with the princess, manages to smuggle her to Pompey's camp where he asks for his help. Pompey gives Cleopatra one of his legions, and she is able to conquer the throne again, but it is only for a short time, because in the meantime Alexandria is seized by Caesar's victorious armies. But thanks to Apollodorus, her friend and a courtier of Caesar, she is saved when he wraps her up in a rug, which he carries on his shoulders as a precious gift for his emperor
