Description

Cristina, with a heart of gold and alone in the world, works as a maid in the home of two old ladies. Their young sailor nephew returns from a long trip and falls in love with sweet Cristina who also feels attracted to him. Of course, Cristina's employers interfere, dismiss the poor girl and exhort their nephew to forget her. Dejected and disheartened, Cristina passes from one job to another until she finds employment with a lady who is the mother of a lovely baby to whom Cristina becomes greatly attached. Meanwhile, the sailor has searched for her and finally finds her again only the day before he is due to embark on another long voyage. Cristina is well aware of the difficulties their relationship would have to overcome and chooses to dedicate her life to the care of the young child who has fallen gravely ill. Unfortunately, Cristina contracts the illness which proves fatal for her and the poor girl dies all alone in hospital, meek and humble as ever
