Description

On the day before the official announcement of her wedding, a respectable young lady discovers, to her horror, that her civil status papers declare her to be already married! Fiancè and family are furious, needless to say, and leave in haste for the small town where the young lady was born to investigate the matter and put things right. On their arrival there, they meet a young Count who finds himself in an identical situation. The story develops and many amusing incidents occur ending in the unveiling of the mystery, which proves to be the result of the warped sense of humour of one of the Town Hall's employees. He is promptly fired - notwithstanding his twenty years of impeccable service - and the story ends in the twofold wedding of the practical joker's victims.
